PlanITROI and Town of Stratford Partner to Help Seniors Caught in the Digital Divide

DENVILLE, N.J.—November 30, 2021—PlanITROI, the global leader in purpose-driven IT lifecycle management solutions, announced today its partnership with The Town of Stratford.  Through the PlanITROI Digital Dreams Project, the township donated 50 refurbished tablets to eligible Stratford senior residents caught in the digital divide. The donation was the result of a townwide device drive with volunteers from PlanITROI and Sterling House Community Center youth volunteers.

According to Pew Research Center, fewer than one-in-five seniors in households earning less than $30,000 a year own tablets. So, Stratford’s Baldwin Center distributed and prioritized tablets for in-need residents 60 years of age and older. Those individuals shared their digital dream about how having the device would help or improve their quality of life. Their plans included their ability to participate in telehealth appointments, connect with loved ones virtually, or access programs and services online.

“The Town of Stratford is grateful to be partnering with PlanITROI on its Digital Dreams Project to connect our community with the technology needed to navigate today’s world,” said Town of Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick. “Thanks to the support of PlanITROI, along with the Stratford Baldwin Center, Stratford Library Association and the Stratford Strong Task Force, we can assist our most vulnerable members of the community.”

Through its Digital Dreams Project, the PlanITROI mission is to bridge the digital divide by turning unused IT devices into recertified, affordable technology solutions. Among its non-profit collaborations, including Take on Race, PlanITROI builds mission-driven partnerships. As a result, these organizations are creating a more digitally inclusive world by providing free and low-cost devices to communities of color.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the digital divide between seniors and the rest of the population,” said PlanITROI founder and CEO Paul Baum. “PlanITROI is pleased to team up with the Town of Stratford to provide its financially strapped senior residents the technology they need to stay connected.”

The Town of Stratford and PlanITROI are planning another drive for January 2022, with more details forthcoming.
