Data Sanitization: Data Destruction & Data Erasure Assurance
PlanITROI highest standards of data sanitization
PlanITROI’s data sanitization process is 100% guaranteed to NAID, Department of Defense, and NIST standards.
Since our start in 2001, PlanITROI has never had an incident of client confidential information exposure through our secure data sanitization process.
Data breaches are such a common issue, that many businesses have trouble keeping up. This leads to hanging on to retired products that could be put to good use. According to IATAM, 1/7 of the world’s population has had their data breached as of 2018. Don’t let your business make the next headlines.
We’ve processed over 60 million media devices and destroyed the massive amounts of data stored on them. PlanITROI’s services are available on-site or at our facility in Denville, New Jersey.
Our Certifications
NIST 800-88 Standards
National Institute of Standards and Technology has published a Special
Publication (SP) 800-88, Guidelines for Media Sanitization
NAID AAA Certified
NAID AAA Certification® verifies compliance with all data protection laws through audits fulfilling regulatory due diligence obligations
ISO 27001 Certified
ISO/IEC 27001 enables organizations to manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual
property, and employee details
Department of Defense
Standards that specify a systematic
process for the erasure of media by defining the overwriting passes, patterns,
and verification methods
Our Process
Perform secure data erasure to ISO 27001, DOD 5200.28-M, and NIST SP800-88 standards
Quality control to ensure 100% of data has been erased and recorded in PlanITvision for tracking
Data erasure report generated, which is fully auditable as each device is logged by serial number
Data Destruction
Drives containing data are removed and physically destroyed. In the case where the data is not on a removable entity the entire asset is physically destroyed by crushing or shredding.
Data Erasure
Using software tools, like Aiken, all data on a device is erased of all the "ones and zeros." After that, an entire new software system is installed. This ensures complete overwrite.
Data Destruction vs. Data Erasure
These terms are often used interchangeably. Both data erasure and data destruction are forms of data security and sanitization. Both 100% remove data from your device. Data destruction physically shreds a device. Data erasure uses software to remove data and overwrites it.
At PlanITROI, our first choice is data erasure to preserve the unit and make it ready for the next user. If data erasure is not possible to the highest standard or by client request, our industrial shredder destroys the unit and each part is appropriately recycled. Learn more about our zero-landfill recycling process here.
Auditable Serialized Reporting Example
For shredded assets, the client receives a Certificate of Device Destruction
